I have procrastinated this post for so many reasons... I have to finish unpacking, I need to decorate more, I need a few more knick knacks here and there before taking pictures, I need to take BETTER pictures, the list could go on and on... but for the sake of checking it off my to do list and so my family can see our house... here is our house... which I really love by the way.
When we walked through this house for the first time, it was NOT love at first sight, I didn't get the tingly feeling of this is the one... BECAUSE I wasn't looking past the paint and the kitchen cupboards. The kitchen is everything to me. I love to cook, bake and lets face it; I spend SO much of my time in the kitchen, I have to love it, right? So thanks to my husband who helped me realize that the size was perfect, the layout was perfect, and we could change the things I wanted, before moving in. That last part was my stipulation. I absolutely love it. It is so functionable, I feel like I have so much space but not overwhelming space. I just feel so blessed. We love our new home. And hopefully after a few more months, the kids will walk upstairs by themselves without me escorting them, trying to convince them that there is nothing to be scared of. (I think it takes some time for the kiddos... new space... new closets to realize there is not a monster in... in all due time)
Our Kitchen cabinets were pickeled Oak wood, which is a pinky pale oak... yuck. So This was the before...

After.... We had them painted white and we did a black island... I love my kitchen!

Our Master Bath Before... gotta love that wall paper border

After... So much better

1/2 Bath Before with an ugly light and wall paper...

And again, the pickled oak cabinet

After.... We took the wallpaper down, textured and painted... the paint is a sagey green... the color didn't show up the best. But it looks so much better. We switched out the light and the mirror. (recognize the mirror from the before masterbath)

We painted the cuboard in here too...

The office before

office before

Office After

Eric picked out this suede faux finish and I think it turned out great for his office

Dining before... now this picture makes it look like a pretty chocolate brown color... but it was really a plumy, pinky color... the previous owners loved pink... even the doors had a pink tint to them... PAINT HAS BEEN OUR FRIEND. :)

After.... With our new dining room table... My Christmas present, (mother's day, birthday and anniversary presents too. :) I love it!

This is a bad picture of the entry way... I need to take another one... but this is the rug that was our color palate... we took the blue, greens, and suede color from the rug and put in on the walls.

More to come...

Your new house looks great! I know what you mean about the kids not wanting to go upstairs without you. Ever since we got in our new place my girls think something scary is up there and always need escorted!
Beautiful, Katie! You and Eric did a great job! I love the white cabinets and the black island in the kitchen. I'm a big fan of contrasting colors. I love the blue in the dining room....it reminds me of the ocean color here. You've done a great job! Can't wait to move home and come spend some weekends with you guys!
Love Love Love the house. We can't wait to visit. You did such a great job decorating. Katie, you really are talented.
I LOVE white kitchens! Everything looks awesome! Merry Christmas!
I love the house. You guys did a great job making it your home. The family pictures are the best. I love the one of Brent sticking his tongue. Hope you blow it up and put it in his room somewhere. Miss ya
I love what you've done to your house -- especially the kitchen. My kitchen has those same ugly cabinets and I would love to do them white with something different for the island but I'm too afraid to paint not knowing what kind of paint to do, what won't chip, do we take the doors all off, etc. It seems like a humongous project. Did you do it yourself or have someone else do it? You are so talented and your house is beautiful! I want to use more blue this year!!
Katie..love your new home..and love what you have done to it. You must be thrilled to finally be able to put your roots down. It sounds like a beautiful area and a wonderful place to raise your kids. It also sounds like Eric is loving his new job and things are going well with the kids school. I know where I could come if I ever make it to Texas??
I wish you and your family all the best in your new house. And hopefully we will keep in touch. Raechal had her baby on Dec 15th, I'm sure you got the Xmas card. Anyway...Abram is growing already almost a month old and looks like he is 3months. And our other Rachel is having her baby on Jan 12th, they are naming him Emmett. There always seems to be something going on here.
Take care..
love,
sharon
